Christmas Countdown - Gift Ideas !!!

Hey Everyone, so were back to the Christmas Countdown, instead of a beer review, today's post is looking at gift ideas. Today's post is focusing on one gift in particular, a Christmas Beer Hamper. This one comes from the Magpie Brewery : ) !!!

The Hamper
These great hampers are filled to the brim with a whole variety of goodies from the Magpie Brewery.

The Magpie hampers make for a great Christmas present to anyone out there that is a lover of beer. Not only do you get some great beer but also other beer related products that will just complete the package.

Everything that you get in the hamper is hand crafted by the Magpie brewery themselves, which just puts that personal touch to the hamper. I also think this helps make the gift so much more special as you know a lot of love and care has gone into this product. The Magpie Brewery where possible like to use all local ingredients, which are close by the brewery itself. A lot of the stuff is home grown in their own back garden as well as using their own free range eggs where possible in their range of cake, from their own chickens. This again to me just makes the gift the more worthwhile as so much love, care and attention goes into these hampers.

So whats included in the hamper, the hamper is filled with the following:

2 x Bottles of Magpie Ale, (One Pale and One Traditional)
1 x A Printed Magpie Brewery Pint Glass,
1 x Homemade Beer Chutney
1 x Homemade Beer Cake,
Homemade Beer Truffles
A Hand Crafted Magpie Decoration

All of this comes in at a great price of only £20.00

In my eyes your getting an awful lot of stuff in this hamper which is great, as well it being a great use of their great beer. The next main thing is where can you get them from. The beer hampers are available at Local Christmas Markets, but your best bet it to check out their website (detailed below). The website will give details of where to find them next etc.

I have suggested this as a Christmas Countdown beer gift as I feel you are getting to try a great breweries beer as well as other great products that they are producing. But the main thing is that you are getting that personal touch and getting a gift for someone that has had a lot of time and love put into it, which will make the giving of it the more sweeter. This for me is a perfect gift for all of those beer lovers out there and I would highly recommend getting onto the website and getting your hands on one of these. I would absolutely love to get my hands on one they are a great gift to receive.

The Beer's Are Here !!!

Hey Everyone, Today's post is slightly different to normal, Today I am introducing a new way to access The Genuine Beer Blog's beer reviews. I feel that it is important to make it as easy as possible to access the beer reviews that are available on the blog, and to have an interactive archive that allows you all to see the beers available and then read their reviews.

So here it is, here are "THE BEER'S".

To Access the beer reviews, just click on this button on the left sidebar and it will take you to the beers page.

From the beer page you are able to see the whole range of beers that I have reviewed on the Genuine Beer Blog, but most of all it will provide all of you readers with an interactive way of accessing the reviews for all of those great beers that are out there.

The beer page looks like this:

Underneath each beer is the name of the beer, which will provide a direct link to the beer review that you wish to read.

I really hope that this provides you all with an easy to use, interactive, navigation page that will allow you all to visually see which beer you would like to read about, then you can click on the name and read the beer review for that beer.

I would really like to hear all your feedback on this new navigation page and how effective you find it. You can contact me by email at shaneraiseurglass@gmail.com or Leave a Comment in the Comment box below.

Copper Coast

Hey Everyone, There is a new special Xmas feature on the way so keep your eyes peeled for that, Updates to follow. So back to today's post. Today I have gone for an Irish brewery, hope you enjoy : ) !!!

Beer Name:
Copper Coast
Brewery:
Dungarvan Brewing Company
Brewed and Bottled:
Dungarvan Brewing Company,
Dungarvan,
Co. Waterford.
Ireland

Alcoholic Percentage:
4.3% Vol
Measure:
500ml
Taste:
Malt, Bitter, Smooth, Refreshing, Bitter After Taste, Slight Fruitiness, Slight Yeast.
Colour:
Red Hint, Light Brown, Slight Cloudiness
Odour:
Strong Malt

General Thoughts:
Copper Coast is a great, pleasant, nice refreshing beer, that is smooth in taste. This beer has a strong malt taste to it, with a slight fruity taste that develops the more time the beer has to air. Copper Coast is a bottle conditioned beer, this is why you end up with a cloudy colouring to the beer and a slight sediment at the bottom of the bottle and glass when you pour. This also means the beer will develop more in the bottle, which as previously stated increases the more time the beer has to air. This is a moreish beer that makes you just want to keep going back for more. The overall flavour of the beer is quite mellow and subtle, however it coats the mouth well and leaves a slight bitter after taste that makes you want more and more of this beer. Copper Coast is a really nice, refreshing beer that I would recommend highly. It is a good red beer and can compete well with other red beers that are out there. This is another great example of a small Irish Brewery making a great beer that can be enjoyed by all.

Price:
€2 - €4 (Average Price, Probus Wines & Spirits 23/11/12)

Rebel Red

Hey Guys and Girls, hope your all doing well and enjoying the blog. Today I have gone for an Irish Brewery. Hope you all enjoy :) !!!

Beer Name:
Rebel Red
Brewery:
Franciscan Well Brewery
Brewed and Bottled:
Franciscan Well Brewery
Cork City,
Cork,
Ireland

Alcoholic Percentage:
4.3% Vol
Measure:
500ml
Taste:
Slight Bitter, Slight Hops, Smooth, Refreshing, Crisp
Colour:
Red Hint, Light Brown
Odour:
Slight Malt, Slight Hops

General Thoughts:
Rebel Red is a nice crisp beer, smooth in texture. This beer starts of with a slight sweetness and then goes into a little bitterness, characteristically of the hops in the beer. This is also a nice refreshing beer. Rebel Red is a mellow tasting beer, with subtle flavours, rather than a full flavoured beer that really packs a punch. The overall flavour of this beer is great but not as full flavoured as other Red beers that I have tried in the past. I am as I have said before, someone that looks for a beer with rich, deep, full flavours that make you want to dive back into them, unfortunately this doesn't do that for me. However I do want to make it clear this is a nice beer, its not a bad beer at all, in fact it would be perfect for someone that isn't a huge fan of Hops. On the whole I think that Rebel Red is a nice, mellow, subtle flavoured beer, that you will find refreshing and crisp.

Price:
€3 - €4 (Average Price, Probus Wines & Spirits 23/11/12)

Southwold Bitter

Hey Guys and Girls, apologies for no post yesterday I was at the Keane concert, where I did go on to have a couple of pints of Hop Head from the Porterhouse, you can see my previous review here. Hope you enjoy :) !!!

Beer Name:
Southwold Bitter
Brewery:
Adnams
Brewed and Bottled:
Adnams,
Southwold,
Suffolk,
United Kingdom

Alcoholic Percentage:
4.1% Vol
Measure:
500ml
Taste:
Slight Bitterness, Metallic after taste, Smooth, Refreshing and Mild
Colour:
Medium Brown
Odour:
Slight Metallic

General Thoughts:
Southwold Bitter is a nice mellow beer, that is refreshing and smooth. It has a slight bitterness on the after taste which is pleasant. This beer does have a slight metallic after taste which isn't a quality that I look for in a good beer. I like a nice bitterness rather than a metallic after taste. This beer isn't huge in flavour, which unfortunately means that it doesn't stand out from the crowd which is disappointing. On the plus side this beer is smooth and refreshing and would be a good beer if your looking for something smooth and mellow. This wouldn't unfortunately be for someone that likes a strong flavoured beer, with a more complex taste, however it would appeal to some. On the whole its not a bad beer and would still recommend it as a nice refreshing, smooth beer.

Price:
€2.00 (based on an average price)
